Fall Festival: Intentional Engagement

Fall is a time where there are many activities going on from apple picking, pumpkin patches, corn mazes and hayrides, to fall festivals. In Lexington, many children in the communities that we work in do not have the opportunity to take part in these activities for a variety of reasons. We partnered with the Valley Park Board and other organizations in the neighborhood of Cardinal Valley to provide kids in the community with fall activities where they are.  We also provided the kids in the community of Speigle Heights with fall activities with volunteers from Lindsey Wilson College. Activities ranged from pumpkin painting, Gaga Ball, face painting, carnival games and much more. Our desire is to be very intentional in building relationships with the children and families in these communities. One avenue that we have utilized is provided the children with activities on the weekends and during summer. These activities allow us to connect with the children in the community, get to know them, and find out where needs are.
